Male Infertility Treatment
These days there is so much more that can be done for Male Infertility
Treatment than even ten years ago.
ART
(Assisted Reproductive Technologies) has been a God send for severe
male factor infertility.
Sperm can be taken directly from the male's testicles and inserted into an egg during an
IVF
Procedure.
Sometimes a man's sperm is either slow to make the journey or there are too few sperm
to impregnate the woman. In this case, sperm is aspirated from the testicles and delivered either near or in the cervix or delivered directly into the uterus
(IUI).
If a man's hormone levels are found to be in the abnormal range, some of the same fertility drugs given to women can be given to a man to encourage the production of more sperm and hopefully more viable sperm.
Varicoceles are a collection of varicose veins in the scrotum. In some cases these veins can cause fertility problems. Surgical repair of varicoceles
has proven to be very successful and proven to give more than 50% improvement.
Vasectomy reversal is a relatively successful procedure. Success rates go down with each year after a vasectomy. And even if the vasectomy cannot be reversed, sperm can be aspirated from the testicles and introduced to the egg using
in-vitro fertilitzation
or
Intracytoplasmic sperm injection.
