Does Low Progesterone cause Infertility?

The time between conception and live birth is called the "gestation" period. Progesterone gets its name, in part, from the word gestation. Progesterone is the gestation hormone!

Progesterone prepares the uterine lining for the egg to implant. It also holds the lining in place. Without progesterone, the lining is shed, and you have a regular period.

Progesterone is also important throughout the pregnancy. Premature birth and miscarriage have been associated with low or fluctuating progesterone levels.

Progesterone levels are easy to test and supplementation is readily available.
