In Vitro Fertilization

Many of the ART procedures utilize the IVF technique.

In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) is used to treat infertility when most other methods have failed and a couple has worked together to explore all other means.

Eggs and sperm are joined outside of the woman's body in a clinical setting.

IVF requires a woman’s ovaries to be stimulated so that the ovulatory process can be monitored and predicted. Ova or eggs are removed from the donar woman’s ovaries. Fresh sperm is introduced to the egg(s) outside of the woman and, hopefully, fertilization occurs. The fertilized egg(s) are then placed back into the woman’s uterus to develop.

The fertilized egg(s) can be placed back into the biological mother’s womb or can be placed in the womb of a surrogate.

Many couples choose to use an agency for their surrogacy because they specialize in putting together a plan that has a better chance of working given all of the technical and legal issues surrounding surrogacy.
