Hypothyroidism and Infertility
The question is whether or not there is a link between
hypothyroidism and Infertility.
Hypothyroidism
refers to a condition in which the thyroid gland is underactive in producing hormones.
The answer is yes! There is a link between hypothyroid and
fertility.
Thyroid hormone
levels influence ovulation. In some cases there is no ovulation and in others ovulation is irregular and unpredictable.
Treating the condition may or may not improve fertility. During your infertility workup, your physician will run several tests including thyroid function.
Hypothyroidism is treatable, but needs to be carefully monitored. Hyperthyroid (overactive) can effect fertility as well. Your doctor should monitor your hormone levels.
