What Is Ovulation

As you probably already know, ovulation is that time of the month, during your cycle when you are fertile and can attain conception and pregnancy.

What is so important about understanding your ovulation is that it will help you to know when to have intercourse; or, when to avoid intercourse. It's called the Rythm Method of birth control. If done properly, it is a safe, healthy and effective way to plan your pregnancies.

But, what exactly is it?

But, what is it? Human females have eggs. The eggs mature in an "ovarian follicle". As the woman progresses through the stages of her cycle, at one point the follicle ruptures and releases the egg or "ovum". The egg travels through the fallopian tube into the uterus. There it waits to be fertilized by sperm. If a sperm makes its way to the egg, the egg is usually fertilized and results in pregnancy.
